An existing home with a primary suite addition allowed us to turn an un-used spare room into an organic modern haven. The primary bathroom is complete with limestone floors, handcrafted tiles, touches of natural brass, and limewash walls. A custom oak vanity containing plenty of storage, hidden hampers and integrated marble sinks tops the space off—this primary suite is a breath of fresh air.

A modern farmhouse family home tailored to a lovely family—our clients entrusted us to transform an existing home in Saddle River into a place for them to spend all day (and night) together. On the list of priorities was a killer basement to watch movies together, play pool, read a book, or enjoy a drink at their very own home bar.

Curb Appeal/Facelift (2020)

The textbook example of a renovation and facelift, this competed design incorporates modern versions of traditional architectural detail for a fresh and current look. We worked with our client to arrive at their perfect balance of interior and exterior space. Much needed interior space was better utilized by overtaking one of the two garage doors for a comfortable Foyer and Mudroom area. Perhaps the most appreciated component of this design is the spacious front porch. A statement piece of architecture while blending harmoniously with the neighborhood.

The objective of this unused second floor space was to create a bright bohemian multiuse area that could serve as a tutoring space, craft room, background for content, and a lounge and sleepover spot for our teen client. We used white oak on the ceiling and beams bring in warmth, limewashed walls to supply texture, and tie dye inspired wallpaper for an added eclectic touch.

Each space was zoned for multiple activities. The table area functions as a desk for tutoring, homework and studying, as well as a crafting/game table and finally as a dining table for an afternoon snack with friends. The large modular sofa and ottomans are great for lounging and movie watching, but can easily be pushed out of the way to allow for open floor space for play and sleepovers. The plaster inspired shelving allow for creative display and storage for games and crafts below, and the built in banquette featuring toe-kick outlets creates extra seating for friends and a stylish nook to post up with a laptop.

Tenafly, NJ

This transformed home, a craftmans full house renovation, started as a dated 1950's home without much improvement and ended in this current transitional form. We added eight feet to the Kitchen and a partial second floor Bathroom Addition. We removed multiple structural walls and reoriented the bedrooms on the Second Floor.

Montclair, New Jersey
Substantial Renovation and Addition, 2018

Located in Montclair, coined Manhattan’s sixth borough, is a commuter town with progressive ideals. This modern renovation and addition to a 1960’s split level home is a statement of architecture consistent with the modern undertone to the city’s new development. A recessed minimal entry, through a six-foot pivot door, leads you to a light filled open plan Kitchen, Dining Room and Living Room marked abstract compositions of wall and window. The indoors are extended to the outdoor by way of a 13 foot sliding Nana wall. Minimalistically appointed, natural light is the main focus of this renovation.

Our client valued the notion of a fresh home that with statement architecture. Zoning regulations presented an additional layer of complexity. Split level homes are typically the hardest to work one, we were able make several large modifications such as a widened stair, alignments between floors and a lofted 2 story Living Room tie the new to old.

The coffered ceilings create zones within the larger Basement to allow Dining, Relaxing, Movie Watching and practice Golf to occur in a comprehensive yet continuous way.

This transformed home, in a Mid-Century Modern Style, started as a 1970’s bi-level home with many small rooms and a claustrophobic floor plan lacking views and natural daylight. We combined the existing Formal Sitting Room, Dining Room and Kitchen into a large open floor plan with vaulted ceilings, skylights and a view to the scenic rear yard. We introduced architectural features and lighting to highlight the newly improved interior.

Located in Rutherford, New Jersey this Victorian home suffered from decades of neglect and poor construction. Balloon-framed and therefore awfully energy inefficient, we reconfigured and rebuilt this home from the inside out. We created a functional, cozy and energetic plan by increasing its square footage and playing with ceiling heights. On the inside, this home offers generous room sizes and a functional floor plan. The most visual improvement is the reinvention of this century old home’s exterior.

Westwood, NJ

A dated, undersize and poorly planned Kitchen and Dining Room, needed to be expanded. Upon first review of the yard, through a very small window, I was able to notice this beautiful yard overlooking a stream. After walking through various options with our clients – the “expected” options weren’t catching and I said, “you ready to have your mind blown?”. With that, we proposed to remove the rear wall of the kitchen, housing all of the existing cabinets, and replace it with a large sliding glass door assembly. Natural light fills this Kitchen and home.
